We offer two types of insurance inspections. These inspections are required by insurance companies before they will write a home insurance policy. Whether you need a 4 point inspection or a wind mitigation inspection, give us a call for a free estimate over the phone.

Insurance Home Inspections
Insurance home inspections are different than a pre-listing or pre-purchase home inspection. A full home inspection is comprehensive, covering every aspect and component of your home. Insurance inspections focus on specific areas and features and are conducted to satisfy the guidelines set forth by insurance carriers. The 4 point inspection and the wind mitigation inspection should not take the place of a home inspection before listing or purchasing. You need these inspections if required by the insurance company or if you qualify for discounts on your insurance due to hurricane resistant elements. We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about insurance inspections, so don’t hesitate to contact us.
4 Point Inspection
You will need a 4 point insurance inspection if you are applying to insurance carriers, or if your current insurer drops you. The insurer needs to know that the condition of the home is good enough to warrant home insurance coverage.
The 4 points covered in the inspection are all the components of the:
- Roof system
- Electrical system
- HVAC system
- Plumbing system
The report will be shorter than a complete home inspection report, but the insurance carrier is only looking for the overall condition of the 4 points.
Wind Mitigation Inspection
A wind mitigation or windstorm inspection, as the name implies, helps to determine your home’s risk of damage from the powerful winds of tropical storms and hurricanes. The inspection can potentially lead to an insurance savings of 10 to 30 percent based on the hurricane-resistant features your home has. State law requires insurance companies to reduce rates for specific hurricane-resistant features present on the home. Homeowners need a wind mitigation inspection report to be eligible for the discounts.
Our experienced home inspector will look at the following and will report on:
- Roof components
- Window and door protection, such as storm shutters
- Building materials used (i.e. stucco, brick, etc.)
- Secondary water resistant features on roof
We will also be looking at the elevation of your property, and make note of the age of the home and the type of construction materials.
